CHARACTER:
- Name: Sirius Black
- Birth date & age: 30th December, 1959 (15)
- Year: 5th
- Wand [Wood, Core, Length, Strengths, Weaknesses]: Ebony, Hippogriff feather, 13in, good at transfiguration, not so good at charms
- Basic Appearance:
Sirius has shoulder length black hair cut into a shaggy hairstyle with always looks perfectly messy, as if a group of professional’s had been at it. This is not the case, however: Sirius’ hair is just naturally ‘well behaved’, unlike his best friend’s, which sometimes threatens to take over James’ head. His features are very angular, and if his hair was short (as his mother would like it), he would look rather…pointy. However, his hair softens his face and makes him look more approachable.
He has dark grey eyes, slightly almond shaped, which combined with his dark skin tone make him look as if he should be from an exotic country. This, however, is not the case, as both his mother and father are distinctly British. Sirius is tall for his age and muscular, an appearance that has been both created by and has aided to his love for quidditch. Sirius usually wears wizarding robes, but when he does get the chance he loves wearing muggle clothing (mainly jeans and band tee-shirts).
- Basic Personality:
Sirius is the person every boy wants to be and every girl wants to be with. He is, on the surface, a cool, calm, collected teen, with self-confidence to rival that of a star Quidditch player and the wit to knock anyone of their feet. He seems aloof and above everyone else, which makes wanting to be his friend even more likely.
Despite his outwards appearance of arrogance, Sirius is as kind a friend as you could ever wish to have. He treats his best friends (except for Peter, at times) with complete respect and, other than jokingly, would never mock them or harm them. He is quick to anger and can become violent, especially if his friends are being mocked. Basically, Sirius is loyal to those who have earned his trust but his trust is easily lost.
While Sirius might act like a ladies man, and has, indeed, has his fair share of girlfriends (and done rather a lot with them), he secretly fancies his friend Remus. However, because he is quite sure he is straight, he continues to date girls, never really liking them quite as much as he likes Remus.
- Parents: Orion and Walburga Black
- Parents’ Occupations, if employed: Orion—works in the Department of Mysteries in the Ministry/Walburga—unemployed
- Siblings, if any: Regulus Black
- Other known blood relatives, if any: Narcissa Black, Bellatrix Black, Andromeda Black, Chael Nox, Kallia Nox, Ana-May Nox, Kristoph Nox
- Basic History:
Sirius was born in Number 12, Grimauld Place, and has lived there his entire life. When he was one-year-old, his younger brother Regulus was born, and has been the bane of his existence ever since. When Sirius was seven, he was severely punished by his mother for striking up conversation with one of the muggle children who lived in the house next door to them. He was severely beaten and still carries the scares from that particular beating (a long, thin scar running from his right hipbone to the small of his back surrounded by numerous other small scars—all caused by a curse his mother used on him). Since then, he has considered his mother both wicked and malicious, disobeying her every command because he doesn’t want to become like her.
When he was 11, he was sent to Hogwarts like most other wizards and witches in Britain and sorted into Gryffindor, which further angered his mother. Since this, he has been growing further and further apart from his parents and his family, making him the ‘black sheep’ of the family. He hopes to move out as soon as he’s of legal age (17).
However, despite the hate he holds for his family, he also met James, Peter, and, of course, Remus, at Hogwarts. He and James instantly became best friends, mainly because James seemed to have the freedom that Sirius had always yerned for. Peter seemed friendly enough, and seemed so willing to please them and wanted to be friends with them so badly at it seemed wrong not become his friend. Remus was different. When Sirius, James, and Peter went up to their room the first night, Remus was already there. James and Peter didn't seem to interested in him, but Sirius was instantly struck by something that made him want to get to know the quiet boy with the long hair. Maybe it was because he was, however much he likes to deny it, inherrently attracted to him.
The four became friends, both because they roomed together and because their personalities worked so well together: James was always the driving force of the group, Sirius the one who kept James from going insane with ideas by bossing him about, Peter making sure to do whatever was asked of him, and Remus keeping the scheams of James and Sirius from being too manic. However, throughout the friendship, while he and James were, obviously, best friends, Sirius could never get over the certain soft-spot he held for Remus, and thus remembered little trivial things about Remus that no one else bothered to remember. Like his ability to sing and compose music. Sirius was also the person to figure out first that Remus was a werewolf in their third year. Over the summer before fifth year, the four friends formed a band, Sirius learning to play the drums, Remus singing backup and playing the keyboard, James being leader singer and lead guitarist, and Peter playing the bass guitar.
