Sirius grinned as he entered the bar, his hair still soaking wet from the shower he had taken. Remus was still asleep, and, while his goal had been to lay with him until he woke up, he was really very hungry, and the grumbling of his stomach probably would have woken him up anyway. He walked to the bar, where a very attractive girl he knew as Jess from his various stays at the Leaky Cauldron. He swaggard over to the bar, winking at Jess.
"Get us a cup of very strong, black coffee, if you would, love, and a bacon sandwhich," he said, still grinning dreamily, his head resting on his hand, his elbow propped up on the counter of the bar. Jess rolled her eyes, and went off to get his breakfast. A few moments later, a cup of coffee was plunked down in front of Sirius. He grinned, thanked her, then launched into a discussion with her about how nice it was of her to make him breakfast. It was almost like they were married. He recieved a cuff on the head for that comment, but she laughed none the less, charmed by his cheekiness.

Remus had woken to the sound of the door banging shut behind Sirius. His first reaction upon waking was, What was I thinking? I shouldn’t have done that. I shouldn’t have, I shouldn’t have, I shouldn’t have. His second thought was, I shouldn’t have enjoyed that. I wasn’t ready for it. I’m still not ready for it! His third reaction was to follow Sirius to the bar for breakfast.
When he saw what Sirius was doing, though, all thoughts of breakfast were forgotten. He could’ve killed the girl, if he’d reacted with his first instincts. Instead, he started crying silently, standing near the edge of the main room.

Sirius continued to natter with Jess, the cup of coffee in his hand, taking sips every now and again. Then Jess said something about a boy--or was it a girl?--crying at the edge of the room. Sirius spun around, spotted Remus, and ran over to him, confused. Why was he crying?
"Hey, Moony, what's wrong?" he asked in a concerned voice, standing close to him, lifting a hand to wipe his tear away. He didn't care that the few customers in the bar were staring. All he cared about was Remus.

Remus turned away from Sirius, not willing to talk to him just yet. How dare he? How dare he flirt with that girl, then come to me like nothing’s changed. It isn’t fair at all. He wanted to leave, so that people would stop staring, but Sirius would follow him, and he didn’t want to be alone with Sirius. He’d do one of two things if he was alone with Sirius. Tear out his throat, or kiss him until neither could go on without air. Neither would solve the problem.

Sirius cocked his head to the side, dropping his hand midway to Remus' face. He turned to the people in the bar, most of whome were staring, and said in his loudest, most obnoxious voice: "THIS IS NOT A SOAP OPERA! PLEASE, DON'T PANIC, AND GO BACK TO YOUR BREAKFASTS!" before giving a little bow, grinning, and turning back to Remus.
"Remus, what? What did I do? Did I hurt you? What's wrong?" he asked, genuinly concerned. He couldn't understand why someone would cry after just having as much fun as they had had the night before.

Remus wanted to sink into the floor when Sirius yelled out to the room. He back up three steps into the darker hall, and tried to resist hurting Sirius. He realized suddenly why he’d been losing control so easily. SHIT. Full moon in two days. He hit his head against the wall, refusing to look at Sirius. He had no idea what he’d do if he looked at Sirius. Chances were, though, that he’d do something harmful.
“Don’t flirt with other people,” he growled out. “And don’t expect me to do what we did last night again for a wall. Apparently I need to learn to control the wolf better.”
He had no idea why he was acting so angry. He didn’t ever do this. Not even when James upset him. He tended to start crying, but even when he was angry, it was never this bad. He supposed it was because he had trusted Sirius so much, and Sirius had broken that trust.

Sirius followed Remus, saw him hit his head against the wall, heard the hate in his voice when he growled at Sirius. "Remus...I never...she's Jess. Just a mate, Remus, honest. I would never give you up for some girl," he said softly, taking a few steps towards him. He knew that the full moon was soon; he'd been keeping track of that since before he figured out Remus' problem. Indeed, that had been how he'd figured out Remus' werewolf status.
"Remus, I'm sorry. Honestly, truely sorry. I want you to trust me. I'm sorry," he said, sounding slightly forelorn. He didn't want to lose Remus: Damn, he'd only just figured out exactly what it was he wanted. Why would he give it up for Jess, who wasn't even that attractive to him anymore?

Remus sighed, closing his eyes. There was no way he was ready to forgive Sirius for hurting him. Not yet. It would take time, though it probably would happen. For now, he needed to let his anger have a focus. If he decided he wasn’t mad at Sirius, and he was going to forgive him, there would be repressed rage to deal with, because he wasn’t actually ready to forgive him. He turned to Sirius, and motioned for him to come closer. Sirius would probably assume it was something like a hug he wanted.

Sirius' face lit up as Remus motioned for him to come closer. Surely this meant he was forgiven? He only had girls to go on with this, but usually when they motioned for you to come closer, they wanted a hug. And while he usually didn't care about the girls, he was pretty sure hugging Remus would be great. He took two steps forwards, so that, had he leaned forwards, he could have kissed Remus.

But Remus wasn’t forgiving him. He was, in fact, taking advantage of the fact that Sirius would come closer to do something that Sirius wouldn’t like. He raised his hand, and took a step back in the same motion. He slapped him across the face, with as much strength as he could manage.
“Don’t expect me to trust you again so easily. It’s going to take time. It’s also going to take effort on your part.”

Sirius felt the rather familiar sting of a slap on his cheek, his head jarring to the side as Remus caught him off-guard, striking him across the face. He let out a small grunt, blinking a few times before straightening up again. His slight smile had gone now, his face dark, his eyes even more so. He couldn't believe he had hit him. How could Remus do that, when he knew that's what his parents did? It wasn't as if he had been snogging someone else. He'd been willing to let the jealously slide, because obviously Remus didn't think Sirius was above cheating, but now it was personal.
"Fuck off," he hissed angrily, fighting to urge to punch Remus in the nose. "Why the hell would I want to cheat on you? D'you know how difficult this is for me? Do you have any idea what my father will do to me if he finds out I'm gay? Do you? No, I don't think you do, Remus, because you have your parents who wouldn't turn you out on the street even if you were a murderer. If he finds out, he'll kill me. Literally. So why would I risk everything, just to throw it away again?"

Remus raised an eyebrow. “Perhaps I’m considering your history with people you’ve dated, and your habit of one night stands. Your father won’t find out about one night with a boy, so why would it really be a risk?” Then he pushed past Sirius, passed through the Leaky Cauldron, and made his way to Flourish & Blotts. There, at least, he could calm down.

"Fuck," Sirius breathed, slamming his fist angrily into the wall where Remus' head had been mere moments before, the bare brick scraping away the thin skin of his knuckles. He shouldn't have lost it. He shouldn't have let himself get worked up. It was Remus, damnit, of course he was worried. Of course he knew about all the girls Sirius had shagged. He didn't know why Sirius had never stayed with them, but he was quite sure Remus didn't care about that. He had to fix it. Had to, because otherwise he'd lost everything.
Without warning, he turned around and sprinted out of the Leaky Cauldron, tapping the bricks in order, and running down the street, knocking over a couple of smaller kids as he did. He really didn't care too much, however. He reached Flourish & Blotts, because even if Remus wasn't in there, which wasn't very likely, he could sit there until Remus did turn up.

Of course Remus saw him arrive. Remus was expecting him. Sirius was the type to be very fickle. He ignored him for a minute, finished flipping through the book, and then turned to look for him. He took him by the wrist, and dragged him into an area that no one ever went into.
“Why the hell did you follow me?”

Sirius wasn't sure how to respond. Telling him why he'd followed him set him up for all sorts of rejection, but at least then he could put this whole idea out of his head. Not telling him meant having to make up an excuse, and Remus' had quite a tight grip on his wrist, which hurt, especially since it was the hand he'd punched the wall with, the impact of which had not only broken the skin on his knuckles but also jarred his wrist.
"I love you," he said, looking as deep into Remus' eyes as possible, willing him to believe him, because he wasn't lying.
